Evaluating DSM-5 Insomnia disorder and the treatment of sleep problems in a psychiatric population

Almost one-third of the studied psychiatric outpatients may be suffering from co-morbid DSM-5 insomnia disorder. Clinicians treating psychiatric patients should view insomnia as a primary disorder rather than a symptom of their mental illnesses and patients should also be educated.
